I just came in from the plantation and it looks like we are just about cleaned out of ripe blueberries. I’m not used to saying that word “out”. We are thankful for such an abundant harvest!
So, I want to tell you that if you want any berries, you had better get here tomorrow morning. I would estimate that there are about 7 or 8 pails of ripe blueberries out there at the most. So if you are coming from any distance, you need to get here at 8am sharp.
Tomorrow will be our last open day.
I want to thank everyone for your support, both physically and also verbally. Our lives have been very enriched by all of you who came to pick.
We must have the best pickers in the industry! Many of you picked on several different occasions and harvested many pounds of blues.
We will keep our “hands to the plow” as we serve the Lord of the harvest, looking forward to what next year may bring, Lord willing.
GENESIS 15:1-6 “After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).
By for now,
B. Bob

No, we didn’t get washed away after the recent floods. The berries held on good during the winds too. By the way, don’t worry about mud at our place. The rows are short grass and so we can facilitate pickers right after (or sometimes even during) a rain.
With the weather being so hot and humid, we have not had many pickers. There are many berries still out there but our family is going to start picking the berries today lest they get wasted so if you want berries, I would suggest coming out this week.

Well, we are finally coming to the close of a wonderful blueberry season but don’t stop reading…. we still have many ripe berries! There are even some bushes still loaded. As the week progresses, however, it will be increasingly harder to fill a bucket. But the pickers who get here first will be rewarded with plenty of berries.
We will have a bit different hours this week:
Tuesday-Thursday 4-8pm (same) and Friday-Saturday 8am-12pm(closing 1 hour earlier). This looks like our final week so if you want fresh berries, get them now.

This is one of our favorite things to have for lunch. It’s easy AND very delicious. Of course it’s the best with fresh blueberries or strawberries during berry season, but you can use any fruit (fresh or frozen) as the topping.
PUFFY PANCAKES
Combine in blender and mix well:
6 eggs
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate
Put 1 Tablespoon butter in each of 4 individual dishes. Heat dishes in pre-heated 450 degree oven until butter is melted. Divide batter evenly among dishes. Bake until puffed and golden–about 20 minutes (ours usually take longer). Serve immediately with powdered sugar and fresh berries (or any other fruit, jam, sauce, etc. of your liking).

I was so thankful for all you pickers who came just “in the nick of time” last week. It seems that the pickers matched the ripe berry load almost perfectly. This week there are still lots of ripe berries and still quite a few turning. If you want to stock up on berries, I would do it this week. We will still have some next week but it will get progressively harder to fill a bucket and the berries will be smaller. It looks like the temperature is going to get rather hot Friday, so if you can get out early in the week that would be more comfortable.

Ripe and Ready and calling your name. Gather them up as fast as you can. The berries are sticking out there just begging for a home. This is a prime week for picking. I’m very thankful that even though it has been raining, it seems to have stopped for the majority of the time we were open this week. The last couple of nights it rained some, stopped, and then the temperature moderated greatly, making it very comfortable picking weather. It looks like many people are taking advantage of our “quantity pcking discount” and are stocking up for the winter! Thank you all for telling your friends and families about us. That is our major source of advertising.

It is Monday July 5th and I’ve just come from strolling through the berry bushes. For the most part, it doesen’t look like anyone has picked anything off of these bushes! Praise the Lord! There are lots and lots of very nice, ripe berries out there. Just the opposite of last year so I’m having to adjust.
Here’s what I’m going to do; I’m going to make an incentive for those of you who love blueberries and want to stock up so you can have the “blues” all winter long (well maybe that doesn’t sound too appealing).
Here is the new pricing scheme for the rest of the season:
up to 6lbs will still be $2.85/lb
6lbs up to 10lbs will be $2.50/lb
10 pounds or more will now be $2.00/lb
So, come out and stock up.
Again our hours are:
Tuesday-Thursday 4pm-8pm
Friday & Saturday 8am-1pm
Thank you, B. Bob

This is a recipe given to us a few weeks ago by our friend Jessica.
2 cups flour (we sometimes use 1/2 or 3/4 whole wheat flour)
1/2 cup sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup blueberries
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar mixed with 1 tsp. cinnamon
In large mixing bowl combine dry ingredients. Then stir in berries.
In a separate bowl beat together egg, oil, and milk.
Make a depression in the center of the berry mixture and pour in liquid mixture all at once.
Stir just to moisten ingredients. (Do not overmix).
Spoon into 12 greased muffin cups (or 6 jumbo muffin cups) and sprinkle each with a little of the sugar/cinnamon mixture.
Bake in preheated 400 F oven for 20-25 minutes.
We think these are delicious. My sister eats them for breakfast and says they are very filling. Thank you Jessica!

Please note the new hours below that are customized for your convenience.
The berries keep coming on strong. If you need berries all year long, this would be a good time to buy high quality, naturally grown (no pesticides), berries for a good price. They are probably the easiest fruit to freeze. Just pick, bag, and freeze. No need to wash before freezing.
By the way, if you want berries that are already picked and frozen, we have those too.
Come on out this week while it is much cooler.
Thank you all for your support!
